I started this project as a present for my dad, a huge Star Wars fan. I followed the general process of this video to make my Thermal Detonator. The Thermal Detonator was made from a clear plastic ornament ball. I cut the teeth out using a dremel with a cutting wheel attachment. It was painted with a base coat of black spray paint, then had thin tape lines applied to give the clean black lines in the final product.

The circuit was made from LEDs and resistors I had on hand. They were paired with 2 AA batteries to add a good weight to the Thermal Detonator. The circuit and lights were hot-glued in place. The inside ring is made of cardboard and hot-glued to the inside of both halves to combine the two. With everything assembled, I spray painted silver and bronze, then dry brushed on black paint to get the worn down look. The painters tape was removed to reveal the clean black lines. The top botton is a push botton to turn on/off the lights. It is made from layered foam. The Thermal Detonator is armed... be careful...
