This project was inspired by my grandma's love for the Cardinals baseball team.
On an inch thick piece of pine wood, I laid-out the the scaled design.
I cut the diamond on the inch thick piece, while on the 1/4" thick piece cut the cardinal, bat, and bases with a band-saw. I sanded the edges for soft corners.
After finalizing the shapes, I stained each of the pieces and glued them to the diamond. A piece of notebook spiral was used for the cardinals foot.
There were spacers added on the back side so the wall wouldn't interfere with the back lights.
I mocked up the circuit on a bread board, ensuring it all worked, then soldered the circuit together. I routered a spot for a battery pack and switch on the back side and glued the circuit/wires in place.
I sanded the red LEDs to diffuse the light that creates the uplighting to compliment the cardinals red stain.
The final project was gifted to my grandma for her 80th birthday.
